Has knitting ever interested you? With practice, it is really to learn to knit. One of the big things to try, is to learn from a knitting video. Though you can learn how to knit from a book, it is much easier to oberve the stitch then to try to read through it. Being able to see the stitch occur can make the difference between being completely lost and really understanding how to knit. Learning to knit washcloths is probably the best thing to begin with. Washcloths typically have very easy patterns and you don’t have to worry too much about counting for your first projects. No matter what you decide you knit you will have to make sure you have the right needle for the job. You have a few choices as to what type of needle you wish to use.

There are metal needles, which make it very easy to slide stitches as you go, but this can also be a liability also because of how easy it is. Another needle option you should consider is bamboo.  Many people prefer this to the metal needles. The bamboo sticks in the yarn better so the needles don't tend to slide out.  Plus they usually feel warmer in the knitters hand. Ultimately it is completely up to personal preference.

As you get more advanced, you may start to want to play with other types of needles such as double pointed sock needles or circular needles.
