Tips For Hiring Dependable Employees
Hiring dependable employees will be one of the most important aspects of maintaining success as a business, regardless of whether you own a small business or are in charge of hiring for a much larger organization; of course, “hiring dependable employees” can often be far more difficult than it sounds. Each different business is undeniably unique unto itself, and the necessary process for hiring dependable employees will vary slightly from situation to situation, but if you follow these tips, you will be on the right path to making sure the employees you hire will be dependable and worth keeping around for a long period of time. Many people make the mistake of focusing on past employment history and on credentials when interviewing a prospective employee, but while these things are already listed in the prospective employee's resume, one thing you can really only get a good feel for in person is the employee's character; focus on character as much as possible in your interview, devising questions that will help you to get a good feel for what the interviewee's character is like. Doing a background check on the people you are interviewing is also helpful; some companies choose to skip this step because of the cost of doing a background check on so many different people, but this is an important step in the hiring process, and it is well worth the money you will spend. And of course, calling the interviewee's former employers will also be worth your time; while calling the references is a fine thing to do, you can pretty well assume that they will not put down a reference if that reference will say something negative about them, but calling their former employers will give you a much better picture of what they will be like as an employee of yours.

What is the Best Day for Email Marketing?
Every internet marketer has either heard about or tried email marketing over their career. Remember years ago when people started buying all these lists of email addresses, and there was even software designed to send, or "blast" these emails to this list in the hopes of getting your message out to your intended audience? Spam was not a problem yet, and the floodgates were open.
These days, the internet marketing world has definitely changed, people hate spam more than ever (me too!), but the fact is that email marketing is still a viable marketing strategy in 2010. What does that mean in layman's terms? People still are making profit by sending out emails to lists of email addresses.
For those of you who are new to internet marketing, the idea is simple. You obtain a targeted list of people you want to market your product, opportunity, or service to. You then write an attention grabbing subject line, your reader opens the email, reads the body, and then is compelled to take some sort of action based on some directions given in the body, typically using a link to a website.
I could probably write 10 articles all revolving around email marketing, but this one is going to strictly focus on one question - "What is the best day to send email advertisements?"
Some people will say that the best day to send is whatever works best for your schedule. Whatever fits into your Daily Method of Operation. I beg to differ. Studies have been done to show that more people make income, or sales, from emails that are sent out on Fridays. My opinion is that the reason for that is that 'most' people are paid on Friday's, and are in the 'weekend' mood and are willing to part with their cash on Fridays more than any other day of the week.
As an internet marketer, your obvious goal is to make sales. Make money. But not everyone involved in email advertising has the goal of making money directly from an email. Their goal with the email is to get someone to a website, getting them into your sales funnel, so that eventually, at the right time, you can make a sale. So the question then becomes "What is the best day to send email advertisements - IF you want to concentrate on Clicks?"
Statistically, Monday and Thursday are the best day for clicks. You get into the office Monday, and your inbox is full of emails sent since Friday and you are fresh and ready to go for your week. You're mind is concentrated on work, your job or career, and if the headline and message are right, more people will click on the link to your landing page on Mondays.
Regarding Thursdays - my theory here is that lots of people are TOO busy Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday with their job responsibilities to even look at an email from you, and Thursday is when they finally get around to it.

Dealing With Criticism At Work
When you invest a ton of your personal time and energy into your job, it can seem like your job is your "life" - no matter how much effort you might put into trying to convince yourself otherwise - and because of this tendency for people to feel this way about their jobs, it can be a tough pill to swallow when they encounter what they feel is unwarranted criticism or negative feedback about their work. While dealing with criticism in an area into which you invest so much of your own time and energy can be difficult, it is also quite possible to deal with this criticism in an appropriate manner, as long as you take the proper approach. As far as "handling criticism in the workplace" goes, you will first need to realize that you should accept it when it comes your way; if your boss is giving you criticism at work, it is likely because they see something that they feel you should fix, and arguing with them is not going to make the situation any better! Find a place where you can be alone for a little while after you have accepted the criticism; in this "alone place," think about the criticism you were given, and establish whether there is anything you can take away from the things that were said. You should use this time as an opportunity to acknowledge the things about your performance that are worth commending, but you should also see what truth and means for learning you can take from the things that were said to you. Finally, the most important part of dealing with criticism at work is reminding yourself that - no matter how much time you spend at your job - your job is not your life, and there are things in your life that are more important than your job! Coming to this realization will make it much easier for you to learn from criticism at work, without getting weighed down by the negative aspects of the criticism in question.

Conducting Great Giveaways For Your Business
Conducting giveaways is one of the best ways for you to gain extra customers for your business, as giveaways are a means for you to sacrifice a small amount of inventory or time for a lot of extra exposure; before you try doing a giveaway for your business, however, it will be important that you pay attention to a few things that will go into making this giveaway successful. When putting together a giveaway, one of the biggest mistakes businesses tend to make is that they give away something that is easy or convenient for them, rather than trying to come up with something customers will actually want; instead of giving away something that will stir up no desire in the hearts of customers and potential customers, you should view the giveaway as an investment, or as advertising, and expand your budget accordingly to give customers something they will want. Doing a giveaway that involves participation from your customers will be another key to making your giveaway successful, but realize that this does not mean you need to make their participation difficult; when doing a giveaway, always aim to make the participation aspect fun and easy, as this will make it much more likely that people will take time and effort to participate in the contest. And finally, realize that getting people to help you spread the word about the contest itself will be one of the biggest keys of all to making the giveaway successful, and you will need to make sure you are taking the right steps in order to cause this to happen; the best way to get people to spread the word about a contest is to make this part of the contest itself, where entries are given into the contest for using social media (or other means) to let people know about the contest itself! When you take these steps toward running a contest for your business, you will find that you are starting to gain lots of new customers, and that the inventory and time spent on these contests are absolutely worth it!

Using SEO To Your Advantage
One of the biggest keys to modern business is search engine optimization - which, basically, means using certain words or phrases (and doing a few other tricks) that will cause your website to show up when people use such search engines as Google or Yahoo; when you are able to optimize your website for search engines, you will be able to effectively increase the chances of people showing up on your website - and of course, the more often people show up on your website, the more familiar they become with your product or service, and the more likely you are to make money as a result. When it comes to SEO, one of the main things you will want to understand is exactly what sorts of keywords are likely to draw readers to your website; as you study and begin to understand the searches most likely to be conducted by Internet users, you will be able to start including these keywords on your website in an appropriate manner - and realize that the more often a word shows up in your posts and information, the more likely it is to show up in Internet searches (which, of course, means you will have to figure out how to make your web content useful and informative while also incorporating your targeted keywords!). Another thing that will be an important part of your SEO efforts will be knowing how to combine keywords effectively; oftentimes, those who search the Internet for products or services will search using a combination of words, and you will want to make sure your website contains these combinations of words so it will be more likely to turn up high in search engine results. Before you can start incorporating these phrases into the content of your website, however, you will have to know what these key phrases are, so take a bit of time to research, as this will go a long way in bumping you up in the search engine world, and bumping up your profits. Once you start understanding all the things that go into SEO and how to incorporate these things into your site, it all becomes fairly easy, and once you start to transform your website in this way, you will begin to find that your traffic is increasing, and that your sales are rising as a result.

Copywriting: The Face Of Your Business
Anyone who works for a large business probably realizes that there are people within the business who are in charge of all copywriting duties. But for those who run a small business (or, for those who have ever considered running a small business), it might seem like you can do the copywriting all on your own. While this might actually be true for you, of course, many people would be much better off hiring someone else to write copy for them. Any writing that is intended to promote a business or product is considered copywriting, which would include everything from websites to print ads to billboards. And while it might seem like an understanding of the message you wish to convey is the only thing you need in order to write successful copy, this is not necessarily true! In fact, this can be absolutely wrong, as many who copywrite for a living have a full understanding of the exact words and phrasing they need to use in order to grab the attention of readers.
Anyone who is thinking about hiring a copywriter full time should make sure the copywriter has experience, and that they can prove their abilities. In order for them to prove their abilities, you should have them write a couple sample bits of copy, and you should give these sample bits to test readers so you can gauge their reaction. If your copywriting needs are less extensive, you may want to hire a freelance copywriter, which is less of a commitment. With a freelance copywriter, you will be paying them by the project, and will therefore be able to assess their success as you go along, and can replace them with someone new if you need to. If you decide that it will be okay for you to continue writing your own copy, make sure you study and understand the principles of successful copywriting. After all, it might seem that you are in fine shape as long as you can write something that is competent and error-free. But if you can write something that will grab the attention of anyone who reads it, you will be in much better shape. Remember that copywriting is the face of your business that most people will see before they see any other; as such, you need to make sure you give copywriting the attention it deserves.

Tips For Exchanging Reciprocal Links On Your Website
When you are conducting some search engine optimization on your website, you will probably be looking for different ways by which you can take advantage of the manner in which search engines work - and once you understand that backlinks (that is, links from another site that point users to your site) are among the most important elements of SEO, this may lead you to start doing some reciprocal links - where you link to another site in exchange for a link back to you - but while this can be a beneficial SEO trick, it can also hurt your website if you do not do it right! Know who is linking to you: If you have a website that ranks well, and you are exchanging a reciprocal link with a site that is brand new, or that does not rank well at all, you will still be helping them, but they will not be helping you at all; furthermore, you will not receive any help through a reciprocal link if you are exchanging links with a site that is deemed by search engines to be irrelevant to yours. Know who you are linking to: While links from a poorly-ranked site will not hurt your search engine ranking, you should know that it is possible to hurt your search engine ranking by linking to "unsavory" sites; if a website is packed with spam, or if it is overflowing with pop-up ads, or if the content on the site is offensive, linking to this site will actually hurt your standing with search engines rather than helping you! Pay attention to anchor text: The text that this "partner website" turns into a link will also make a difference in whether or not the reciprocal link does anything for you; the best way to reciprocate links is to tell the other person what you want the anchor text to say, as this will allow you to make sure that the anchor text contains keywords that are relevant to the page being linked to, which will cause the link to have more weight with search engines. SEO can be complicated at first, but once you begin to understand the little things such as this, you will be in much better shape to boost your placement on search engine rankings pages!
